Trying stuff out

So I am on this kick, trying out lots of cool things on the web. I am following a course that shows me lots of programs and how to use them. I just tryed ''Wordle''. Not bad, it's easy to use but hard to have it do something precise. I used to like working in Photoshop, it gave me much more flexibility and control. However in a pinch, Wordle would work nicely.

Here is the little example I tried, nothing fancy...

Wordle: creative
I like how I can do it very quickly. Seems like these days time is always of essence!
So in these next few post I will probably have lots of new to me things. I will post them here, a way for me to remember all these things that I just learned. Everything will likely all have to do with art since that is my passion but it will be pretty random.
I kind of like random!

Speaking of random, check out this beautifuly handpainted door that I found on Wikimedia Commons:

Anything painted comes to life!

Library info; pretty interesting stuff!

I learned allot about My Vision account with the NB Public Library.
Did you know that with your library card you can log into the NB Public Library and put books on hold, renew your books AND you can even create lists of books that you have read or would like to read. It is nice to keep track, you never know when it can come in handy. I don't know about you, but I forget book titles all the time. Now if I want to recommend a book to a friend I can do so cause I have my list, in my Vision account.

There is lots there to do, more than I expected from the library to tell you the truth. Libraries are really doing lots to keep up with the times. I would say they are doing a great job.

Now we can rent movies at the library and even comment on those, online. I can keep track of the movies that I have watched and so on. Kind of like what we can do on Netflix.

If you have a library card, check it out online. If you don't have a card yet, what are you waiting for!!!!

Webinars
My husband and I have watched a few Ynab webinars. It's this budgeting software that we find works really well for household budgeting. The webinars were very helpful cause we can listen to someone teach us how the software works while she is showing us from her computer where to click and what to do. She showed us many examples. This was my first experience with Webinars and I am all over it! We could learn from the comfort of our own home. In fact for one of these we sat with our coffee in had while in our pj's and learning a new part of the software. A great way to start that Saturday morning! There are Webinars on many different things. If you need to take a course and have this as an option, I would take this route for sure.

Twitter

Well I did it! I just set myself up with a Twitter account. Not sure how much I will actually use it. I tell you social media, there is lots! I am not sure if I will be able to keep up with all of it realistically. Maybe it will be nice to go just check things out every now and then, but not be on any one of them on a regular basis.

On another note;
So I was at the mall today...needed to exchange my sons new snickers, we bought them 2 weeks ago and there is already a hole in it! Not even skateboarding season...imagine....anyway, I digress...so I saw this really nice belt and very cool socks. I know, simple accessories but both were so fun. The belt looks something like this;
I realized I really like old fashion cartoon images. I like the bright colours they used. The images were not necessarily simple images. In fact, I would say the Spiderman and Superman cartoons were pretty complex illustrations. Lots of details I think. These were the kind of cartoon books that I could look at for a long time, cause there was lots to look at in each square. Not a variety of colours, mostly just primary and secondary colours, but lots of images within one frame.

I'll have to keep that in mind in when doing my next painting. I'd like to paint something with lots of hidden images or just lots of things to look at, on that same canvas.

I'm really drawn to these old fashion cartoons. I have a Wonder Woman mug that I justified the purchase by telling myself it would give me Woman Power when I drink out of it! Hey whatever works!

This is my Wonder Woman mug.

I'm attracted to the colour combinations, those reds and blues, bright green all outlined in black. That's probably why I love Pop Art. Andy Warhol's Marilyn series and the Campbell soup collection. For me, these combinations of colours read; Fun, Playful, No worries. Just look at this image....fun or what? I would so wear that!  Except I don't really wear heals...But so fun!

My daughter has these, she said one day she will wear them to gym class when they do lots of running! I think that is a great idea!

I need to start painting smaller I think cause I have so many ideas. I think it would be a reasonable way to get to do all of them.

For now, I observe cartoons.....

My first post

Well, I finally set up my blog account! It will take me a while to get used to the whole thing but I think this could be a good place to put down all my art, thoughts and inspiration ideas. I plan on posting things that I will want to come back and refer to. Hopefully it will also become a place where other fellow artists will gain inspiration when reading it as well. Hey, you never know, someone who doesn't even do art, may like to read about the art world every now and again!

I discovered that I like journaling. It helps me figure things out. Not sure how captive my journaling will be to others. I tend to go off on tangents and get a little all over the place. Kind of like my sketchbook. I'm sure I'll get better as time goes by.

Today I picked up a couple of paintings that I had up at the Beaverbrook Gallery in town. It was an pleasure having my work up at that gallery.  These are both for sale but I will enjoy them in my home for now. I think they would look great in my bedroom!

Well that's it for my first post. I will spend a little time figuring all these functions!
Have a great day!
